Frequently asked questionS

What type of services do you provide?

I specialize in the psychiatric treatment of children, adolescents, and young adults. My services include comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. In my practice, I treat a range of psychiatric issues including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, attentional and behavioral problems, and eating disorders.

What should I expect during an evaluation?

Initial evaluations typically take two to three hours and include a diagnostic interview with the child and a history gathering session with the parents as well as a review of other relevant medical and educational records. I feel it is important to coordinate care with other medical professionals, therapists, and school personnel as I work to develop a comprehensive treatment plan.

Are you currently accepting new patients for evaluation?

I spend a lot of time with my patients and it is important to me to be available and accessible to all of the families in my practice. As such, I have a waiting list for new consultations. If the need is more urgent, I am happy to provide a referral to one of my colleagues.

Do you accept insurance?  How does payment work?

I am considered an out-of-network provider by most insurance plans and I do not contract with or participate with any insurance plans. If your insurer provides reimbursement for out-of-network medical costs, I will provide you with a statement that you may submit directly to the insurance company. You may wish to call your plan to inquire about coverage for out of network services. I accept payment at the time services are provided by cash, check or credit card.

Do you have afternoon/ evening hours?

As many of my appointments are for children, families often prefer afternoon and evening hours. These tend to be the busiest times so they are reserved for established patients. I do not schedule initial evaluations during after-school hours.

What do I need to bring to a consultation appointment?

  1. New patient forms
  2. Any prior evaluations/ testing
  3. Report cards
  4. List of current medications
  5. Contact information for all treatment providers
